Babysitting Co-Op Baby In Crib

Want FREE BABYSITTING?  Join B.A.B.E.S., By Agreement Babysitting Exchange Services!  It’s a great way to make new friends for you and your children, while getting free babysitting!  You no longer need to feel guilty about asking friends (and neighbors) to help watch your children when you need to go to the doctor, run errands, or even enjoy a night out!   Members use coupons in exchange for free babysitting with other members of the coop. As coupons are the "method" of payment, there's no need to trade babysitting with only one person - the entire coop is a pool of available babysitters!  New members must attend the monthly evening meetings to meet other members.

Book Club  Book Club

We hope that you all had a wonderful summer and we’re looking forward to seeing a lot of old and new faces this year.  Once again, we are very excited about the list of books selected for the year.  We were given great feedback in the spring and we’ve heard that a lot of you have already started reading.
Since some of you may be new to the club, we’d like just to review how our group is run.  In June the group decides together on the books for the upcoming year.   In order to include everyone interested, we pretty much alternate between evening and daytime meetings.  The meetings usually fall on the last week of the month. This can vary as the person hosting chooses the date.  Due to the holiday schedule our December selection is not discussed until the beginning of January.  Evening meetings start at 7:30 and daytime meetings start around Noon.  For daytime discussions we all bring something to share and have lunch together – children are always welcome during the day.  You can choose to read all of the books or just a few; there’s no commitment required.  If you are having difficulty finding a book, please contact us as we have one set which can be borrowed on a first come, first serve basis.

Dinner Club  Dinner Club

Travel the globe without leaving your town,
        Expand your culinary horizons...
Come have some fun, see old friends, meet new people, and enjoy a good meal and a fun night out! Dinner club is forming.  This year will offer creative themes (such as, Harvest Meal , Spain : Tapas Party, Rustic French Cooking, Winter Warm-Up Dinner, Italian Alfresco Dinner, Southern Accents and of course the favorite- Secret Ingredient Dinner) with suggested menus.  We will start out with the easier recipes and then progress to slightly more difficult recipes as the ‘dinner group’ desires.

Rules of Engagement:
  • People will be asked whether they want to bring a main course, side, appetizer, or dessert.  We will track who brings what – so that the same people are not constantly bringing main courses.
  • We will assign each couple a suggested recipe for which substitutions are allowed.
  • We would like an RSVP 14 days in advance, if possible – so that we can properly plan the event
  • Hosts – need only provide soft drinks, tea, coffee, and a fun place to be.
  •  BYOB- let’s not forget to bring a bottle of wine, beer or whatever else goes with the theme of the night
  • If you sign up for a dinner and for some reason can't make it, please have the courtesy to let the coordinators and host know as soon as possible so that we can make other arrangements for your dish.
  • Suggestions for menus or any improvements are always welcome.
If you are interested in joining us, or receiving information about Dinner Club, please contact Doreen Cohen or Patty Yeakel.

The Men's Poker Club is always looking for some new players. We meet monthly, on the first Friday of each month, at a different host's home. We play a friendly game of Dealer's Choice - if you can explain it (the same way, twice) we'll try to play it! Some games we've played recently include Hold'em, Omaha, 7-card stud (also 6 and 5 card stud), Bingo, Rags and Royal Hold'em.
We keep it friendly with a 3-raise limit and no check-raising. A $50 buy-in gets most players to midnight -usually! Come try your luck and see if your Poker Face is up to the challenge !! Invitations are handled via Evite.com, so forward you email address to Andy or Chuck for more information.

Playgroups  Playgroups

Playgroups are a great way for your child to interact with other children and an even better way for you to make new friends, share parenting tips, and have some stimulating adult conversation.  Here's how the process works.  A parent contacts me to ask for placement in a group, and they are placed on a list for that age group.  When enough names have accumulated on a list, I will contact each person in that group and let them know.  One person will be asked to be in charge of pulling together the first meeting of the group.  At that initial meeting the group will collectively decide upon which day, time, frequency and such the group will meet each week.  Afterwards, you just let me know how it went, and your playgroup is formed!

There has been some interest in an afternoon playgroup for children in morning kindergarteners. Email Theresa to get involved!

Please contact Theresa if you are interested in becoming part of a playgroup or if your existing playgroup is open to new members.  Happy Playing!!!!

  Running Club NEW!

Do you love running? Or would you like to get started running?  Are you looking for fun people to run with?  Whether you are looking to run for fun, exercise or to train, please consider joining us!  Our goal is to establish weekly 2-6 mile runs on a set day/time during the week.  We will keep runs on local roads and Randolph trails.  We'll also target a few 5K or 10K races during the year that we can run as a team or individually - purely optional for those who like to run races to spice up their training!

Runs will be on alternating Saturday and Sunday mornings.  We will email those interested each week as to the time/location of each run.

If you are interested please contact Alicia and Carol

 Tennis Tennis

Come out to get some exercise, sun and fun with the gals. All levels welcome. If your game is hardly the best, you can fray your opponent’s nerves by methodically
bouncing the ball at least ten times before your serves.

We decide the day and time as a group weather permitting.  Contact Irene today to get on the email list and just respond when you can play.

Wine Club Wine Club

Welcome to Wine Club!  We are looking forward to a fun year of meeting new friends, eating delicious food and drinking spectacular wines!  We meet casually, bi-monthly, at a host member's home to socialize with friends and enjoy tasting a number of wines (non-alcoholic beverages will also be available).  Participants provide an appetizer or dessert of their choice and split the cost of the wines.

Oct 2nd - 7:30PM
Trezza Home
Theme:  Host's Choice

Attendance will be limited to 30 people, so get your reservation in early!  Cost will be $15 per person.  In the interest of fairness, we will not take any reservations for this event until September 7.

To RSVP to this event, please send an e-mail to Laurie.  Laurie will then confirm your spot on the list and assign you either an appetizer or dessert to bring to the tasting.  After you receive your e-mail from Laurie, you will need to send her a check or cash for $15 per person attending to hold your spot on the list.  We’ve had lots of interest in this event, and without a check, we will not be able to hold your spot.
