Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to live in Randolph, New Jersey to be a member?
No, you can live anywhere. However, most of the activities take place in and around Randolph.

Can I try an Interest Group activity before I join?
Yes, but if you decide you'd like to continue participating in the interest group activities, you must become a member.  You can find out more about our activities by checking out the monthly schedule online, requesting a newsletter via email, or by directing questions to any board member.

Do I have to be available to attend the Interest Groups every month?
Most of the Interest Groups are pretty flexible as far as attendance goes. They are happy to see you whenever your schedule allows. However, some of these groups do request an RSVP. Please check the newsletter to see whether a RSVP is requested.  Bunco is the only exception.  If you are absent from Bunco, you have to find a substitute from a list of alternate players which is provided.  This is because a set number of players is required.

Can I bring my children to a Coffee Morning?
Unless we specify "Ladies' Coffee" or "Ladies' Tea," you can bring children, but please watch them and be mindful of other's houses as not everyone's home is childproof, and please RSVP so that the host knows how many people to expect.  The Coffee Mornings are great opportunities to meet both new and old members.

Which club activities can I do with my young children?
You can bring children to Welcome Coffee Mornings, Baby Club, Playgroups, Mommy and Me activities, Babysitting Co-op, any daytime Book Club meeting (evening meetings are for adults only, however) and Daddy Day

I work during the week.  Which club activities take place during the evening or weekend?
You can attend the Social Program, which has a different theme each month.  Book Club meets every other month in the evening.  There is an evening Bunco group, which you could volunteer to sub for or you could sign up to start another group.  Dinner Club, Ladies' Night Out, Men's Poker, and Scrapbooking all meet in the evenings or weekends.  Or you could start a new Interest Group!

Is this a club for women only?
While most of our members are women, we do have some activities for men only and also for couples; however, most are geared toward women.  If you have any ideas for new Interest Groups for either women, men, or couples, please let a board member know.  We are always on the lookout for new activities for our members to enjoy.

I have some ideas for a new Interest Group.  What can I do?
Contact a board member and get started.  The only requirement is to do something fun and write about your plan in the monthly newsletter.  The possibilities are endless...

Where does my $35 membership fee go?
The first $10 goes directly to community charities.  The rest funds the club for things such as the monthly newsletter, the membership directory, the Monthly Social Programs, the Summer Barbeque, the website, etc.

How often is the newsletter published and the website updated?
The newsletter is published monthly from September till June and sent out to all members just before the first of the month.  If you are a club member and have not received your newsletter, please contact the Newsletter Editor immediately.

Much of the website is updated monthly as well, but not all of the pages.  Unlike the newsletter, it does not contain contact information like home addresses, phone numbers, etc. other than the club email address.

When does the club calendar year start and end?
The activities start up in September and run through June.  There are a few things during the summer that Newcomers' typically participates in, like the Fourth of July Parade and Randolph's Night Out, but there are no formal meetings during the summer and no newsletter printed in July and August.

Is there a limit as to how long I can remain a member?
No, not anymore.  When we used to be the Welcome Wagon, there were restrictions as to how long someone could be a member.  However, now as the Newcomers' and Neighbors' Club, there are no such rules.  You can remain a member as long as you like.
